Michael Yuan's Java ME Blog: The Dawn of Smartphone
I had the honor to have the "Father of the Nokia Series 60 UI", Christian Lindholm, write the Foreword for my new book Nokia Smartphone Hacks. Christian's invention, the Nokia navigation key user interface, is used daily by billions of people everyday. In his foreword, Christian says:

Two and half years later, Nokia alone has sold more than 250 million smartphones (both Series 40 and Series 60). It is a huge success by any standard. For the publication of my book, I thought it would be nice to have an artist friend to re-render the scene with a newer, more revolutionary smartphone, and more evolved cavemen. :) This image will be printed in the book.

"The Dawn of Smartphone", by Donald L. Smith. The Nokia N91 smartphone, featured in the picture, combines a mp3 music player, a mpeg4 video player, a 4GB harddrive (3000 songs or many hours of high quality video), as well as a 2-megapixel digital camera and camcorder. It also features a large color screen, sliding keypad, and built-in 3G / WiFi / Bluetooth / USB data connectivity. It represents the future direction of smartphones.
